Scholarships

Greetings from the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated ®, Tau Xi Omega Chapter Scholarship Committee. Our chapter in collaboration with the Sisters Working In Total Harmony (SWITH) Education and Service Foundation, Inc. has historically granted up to $11,000 per year in scholarshipsto students in the Hamden, CT area. 

The eligibility criteria for our scholarships are listed below. Please read the details carefully.

Applications are closed for 2025. Check back at the start of the new year for an updated application link.

    • Completed & signed application

    • High school transcript with GPA (at least 2.75)

    • Letter of recommendation from a teacher or a school official

    • Attend a 4-year college in the Fall of 2025

    • 500 word typed essays 

    • Must be a resident of Hamden, CT

    • Identify as Black or African American

    • Application deadline: April 11, 2025

    • Completed & signed application

    • Letter of recommendation from a teacher or a school official

    • Attend a 4-year college or university in the Fall of 2025

    • 500 word typed essay

    • Must be a current senior at Hamden High School

    • Identify as Black or African American

    • Application deadline:  April 11, 2025

    • Completed & signed application

    • High school transcript with GPA (at least 2.75)

    • Letter of recommendation from a teacher or a school official

    • 500 word typed essay

    • Must attend a 4-year Historically Black College or University (HBCU) in the Fall of 2025

    • Must be a resident of Hamden, CT

    • Application deadline:  April 11, 2025
