Scholarships

Greetings from the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated ®, Tau Xi Omega Chapter Scholarship Committee. Our chapter in collaboration with the Sisters Working In Total Harmony (SWITH) Education and Service Foundation, Inc. has historically granted up to $11,000 per year in scholarships to students in the Hamden, CT area. 

The eligibility criteria for our scholarships are listed below. Please read the details carefully.

    • Completed & signed application

    • High school transcript with GPA (at least 2.75)

    • Letter of recommendation from a teacher or a school official

    • Attend a 4-year college or university

    • 500 word typed essays 

    • Must be a resident of Hamden, CT

    • Identify as Black or African American

    • Completed & signed application

    • High school transcript with GPA (at least 2.75)

    • Letter of recommendation from a teacher or a school official

    • Attend a 4-year college or university

    • 500 word typed essay

    • Must be a current senior at Hamden High School

    • Identify as Black or African American

    • Completed & signed application

    • High school transcript with GPA (at least 2.75)

    • Letter of recommendation from a teacher or a school official

    • 500 word typed essay

    • Must attend a 4-year Historically Black College or University (HBCU)

    • Must be a resident of Hamden, CT
