From our President
Welcome to Tau Xi Omega, The Small Chapter with a Big Heart. It is my privilege to serve as president of this chapter and encourage you to learn more about our programs and initiatives. I invite you to explore our pages to see the work we do to better the Hamden community.
Tau Xi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated was chartered December 12, 1992. We are an international organization of college educated women dedicated to the mission to “Serve All Mankind” which is our passion. We strive continuously to make sure our impact is felt in Hamden and beyond.
The theme of our international program is Soaring to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood. Under the leadership of our International President, Danette Anthony Reed, we consistently deliver results on the various initiatives set forth:
Strengthening Our Sisterhood
Empowering Our Families
Building Our Economic Wealth
Enhancing Our Environment
Uplifting Our Local Community
Advocating for Social Justice
Our goal is to have a lasting impact in our community.
In partnership with Sorors Working in Total Harmony Foundation (SWITH) we provide scholarships to students from Hamden High School and students who attend other local schools that live in Hamden.
We actively engage with the community and collaborate with our community partners to offer, support and sustain an impact in Hamden. We invite you to join our efforts to effect change in the Hamden community. Stay connected to our work on Facebook and Instagram.
With warm regards,

Program Initiatives
Soaring to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood (2022-2026), seeks to build upon Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority’s rich legacy of service by galvanizing our sisterhood of more than 120,000 active members to lead on the front lines of change, education, and advocacy. Strengthen Our Sisterhood will serve as the administration’s “Foundation Initiative” as we strengthen our bonds to support our service mission. These initiatives are designed to improve the lives of those we serve. We will work collaboratively to maximize our outreach on progressive endeavors and consistently produce leaders who will advance our credo of service.
